Pro-Chancellor Dame Therese Walsh DNZM

Dame Therese Walsh is an independent director, chairman of Air New Zealand Ltd, and a director of ASB Bank Ltd, Antarctic New Zealand, and Contact Energy Ltd.


Dame Therese Walsh was part of the team that worked on securing the hosting rights for the 2011 Rugby World Cup Tournament in New Zealand. She was chief operating officer for Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd and head of New Zealand for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. Dame Therese was recognised for her contribution to sport when she was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She is also a former chairman of Television New Zealand Ltd, a previous director of NZX and New Zealand Cricket, and held a senior role at KPMG.

In 2013, she was named the supreme winner of the Women of Influence Awards and the following year was awarded a Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Award. A Victoria University of Wellington alumna, Dame Therese joined the University Council in 2016. She was first elected as Pro-Chancellor in 2018 and re-elected in 2019 and 2020.
